Saving Money on Groceries
I have a family of four; three of them boys, so you know how expensive groceries can be while raising 2 healthy boys and a hubby ;)
I have come up with a few ways to save money on groceries and not sacrifice good quality food for my family.
Tip 1 – Look for the grocery stores without the frills. In my area we have a few to choose from, one is Aldi and the other is Save-A-Lot. Both stores offer products that are not only cheaper than your name brand grocery store but also just as good. They cut costs on things like bagging, advertising and store promotions to keep the costs low, very low for their customers. Check them out and see how much money you can save.
Tip 2 – Along the lines of the first tip, think outside the box a little when looking a brands. In other words, don't be a brand snob. Just because it is a name band item doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Check out the store brands and save even more, you'll be surprised at how good some of them taste.
Tip 3 – Coupons, coupons, coupons. I have to admit, couponing hurts my head but if you really get into the nitty gritty with using coupons your whole spending world could change. Clip those coupons and make sure to check if your grocery store runs double or even triple coupons.
Tip 4 – Don't throw away your receipt! One great way to save some money is something we normally ball up and throw in the trash. I'm talking about our receipts from stores, especially grocery stores and drug stores. On most receipts you receive from these stores you can obtain really outstanding coupons, which are normally related to what you just purchased. Some of these places also place surveys on the bottom of some of their receipts and if you complete the survey, you can get a big discount or something for free. It may not be anything big but free stuff is always good.
