The SureFire company began in 1969 when Dr. John Matthews founded the Newport Corporation to harness the power of lasers for industrial applications. Dr. Matthews helped pioneer the industrial laser industry.

With this success led to the development of a laser sight that could be attached to a gun. (Shooting was a passion of Dr. Matthews) The design was a hit and was soon patented. Laser Products was then born. Over the years the company grew by offer police and military a great product for their firearms.

Eventually the company would evolve to be named SureFire, which now produces laser-sighted firearms for both the general public and law enforcement and military. Today, SureFire is synonymous with laser sights and their products can be found throughout the world!
