Costume Craze - Child and Adult Costumes

Christmas Tree Costume

Tired of the same old bulbs and tinsel you use on your Christmas tree year after year? It's time to start thinking outside the box of ornaments and use the same creative energy we'd put into creating any other costume, because essentially, that's what your doing...outfitting your tree with a type of costume.

Choose a theme: If you like nature, use pine cones, leaves and branches of berries to create a rustic tree. Floral sprays fill in gaps and add an elegant touch.

Go monochromatic: An all white tree and décor creates a pristine sight. Add variety to your one color tree by using ornaments of different styles, shapes and textures.

Use unique décor: A miniature wire chandelier can act as a tree topper. Brightly colored peacock feathers will dress your tree like no other ornament can. Fish netting, shells and lanterns will thrill sea lovers. Tap your creative interests (like music, cooking or art) for inspiration.

For those of you who think it's easier to dress like a tree instead of decorating one, you'll love our fully decorated, life-sized Christmas Tree Costume with gift shoe boxes! Or, for a festive head topper, try our Springy Christmas Tree Hat!

Fun Turkey Facts

You already know that there's nothing quite like a plateful of juicy turkey (and cranberry sauce)...mmm! But what else do you know about this traditional Thanksgiving Day food? In honor of the bird that puts his roast-y goodness on our platter every year, we've gathered up some fun turkey facts:

A 15 pound turkey usually has about 70 percent white meat and 30 percent dark meat.

Turkey eggs hatch in 28 days. Baby turkeys are called poults.

According to the Guinness Book of Records the largest turkey raised was 39.09 kilograms (86 pounds) -- about the size of a large dog!

Adult turkeys can have 3,500 feathers. Most turkey feathers are composted. Feathers are spread out on fields, then plowed under in the spring. The feathers decompose and fertilize the soil.

Male turkeys gobble. Hens do not; they make a clicking noise.

Here's another interesting fact you'll want to know...our Winter Blowout Sale can save you 60% on hundreds of great costumes. But hurry, before the savings are gobbled up!

Thanksgiving Humor

A professional NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles, had just finished their daily practice session when a large turkey came strutting onto the field. While the players gazed in amazement, the turkey walked up to the head coach and demanded to be given a chance to play at tight end.

Everyone stared in silence as the turkey caught pass after pass and ran right through the defensive line. When the turkey returned to the sidelines, the coach shouted, 'You're superb. Sign up for the season, and I'll see to it that you get a huge bonus.'

'Forget the bonus,' replied the turkey, 'What I want to know is, does your season go past Thanksgiving Day?'

It’s no joke that football is an integral part of Thanksgiving Day. Costume Craze has the Sports Wigs you need to cheer your favorite team on to victory. If you don’t care who wins the game but you still want to join the fun of wearing a funny wig, we have Football and Beer Bottle wigs too!

Super Dog Costumes

It's Ruff being a superhero. Especially if you only think you're one! In theaters this weekend, superstar canine, Bolt, lives a life of adventure, danger and intrigue...until the cameras stop rolling, that is.

When Bolt, the star canine of a TV show, is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City, he begins a cross-country journey through the real world.

Armed only with the delusions that all his super powers are real, and with the help of two unlikely traveling companions, Bolt learns that he doesn't need superpowers to be a hero.

While your dog may not be the superstar of a hit TV show, you can make him feel like the hero of his own life with our fun selection of canine costumes. From Batman to Wonder Woman, we've got a costume to match every dog's superhero dreams!

And don't forget to check out our White Hot Winter Sale, where you'll find chillingly low prices on hundreds of great costumes!

De-Buckling the Pilgrims

Q. Why do Pilgrims have such a hard time keeping their pants up?

A. Because they wear their belts on their hats!

While this joke may be amusing, it is a common Pilgrim myth. Not only did the Pilgrims not dress in black, they did not wear large buckles, weird shoes, or black steeple hats. So how did we get the idea of the buckles?

According to Plymouth Plantation historian, James W. Baker, the popular image of the Pilgrims was formed in the nineteenth century when buckles served as a kind of emblem of quaintness. That's the reason illustrators gave Santa buckles as well. Even the blunderbuss (musket), with which Pilgrims are identified, looks out of date and fits the Pilgrim stereotype.

If you prefer buckles on your Pilgrims, check out our Pilgrim Shoe Covers. For an entire Pilgrim costume of the traditional mythic type, see our entire collection of Thanksgiving Costumes.

You can save up to 60% through November 18th...now that's something to be thankful for!

Pilgrim Costume vs. the Ball Game

Oh yeah, we know where you'll be on Thanksgiving Day...right after you stuff your face with turkey.

The women will be stuck in the kitchen doing dishes while the men retire to the couches for the big ball game.

Costume Craze has a solution for this annual dilemma. Our Pilgrim's Pleasure costume, for ladies, has the power to distract even the most fanatic of football fans.

It may seem impossible, but we assure you, one look at the ladies in this flirty pilgrim costume, and the guys will be muttering, "What football game?"

Why, we'd be surprised if they didn't stay in the kitchen until every last dish is done! How's that for a Happy Thanksgiving?

Shop now for great deals on all of our Thanksgiving costumes...you can save up to 60% off!

Turkey Buying Tips

Don't purchase a whole turkey if you find that the packaging has been punctured or torn, which may indicate that the turkey has been damaged.

You can take advantage of grocery store specials by purchasing two birds and storing one in the freezer for the next holiday event!

When shopping for a whole turkey, it is best to purchase at least one pound per person. This will allow for plenty of extra helpings plus some leftovers. If you wouldn’t care for any leftovers, plan on 3/4 pound per person.

Purchase fresh turkeys no more than 1 or 2 days before roasting for optimum freshness. Store it in the coldest section of the refrigerator, on the lowest shelf at the back, until ready to cook.

Pop-up timers add convenience for consumers who may not possess a meat thermometer. However a meat thermometer is still the best way to make sure that the turkey has cooked long enough.

If you want to dress like a turkey, instead of just dressing one, check out our hilarious Turkey Hats! You can save 30%-60% on all our Thanksgiving costumes by shopping before November 15th!

Veterans Day: Did You Know?

Veterans Day gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans.

However, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs, most Americans confuse this holiday with Memorial Day. Some Americans aren’t even sure why we honor our Veterans on Nov.11th.

Memorial Day commemorates members of the military who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle.

Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day but the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime.

To all our men and women serving in the military world wide, we thank you for your service to our country!

Happy Veterans Day!

Animal Kingdom

In theaters this weekend, Madagascar 2 catches up with the lovable zoo characters, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo who find themselves in the wildest place of all – the vast plains of Africa.

There, the zoo-raised friends encounter species of their own kind for the very first time. While discovering their roots and long-lost relatives, as well as dealing with romantic rivals and scheming hunters, will the concrete jungle crew decide that Africa is better than their Central Park home?

We'll never tell. What we do know is...if the kids come away from the movie with the urge to visit Africa, or the zoo, our child zoo keeper costume will stoke the fires of their imagination until they think they're standing in the middle of the Animal Kingdom!

Speaking of Animal Kingdom, don't forget to check out our large collection of Animal Costumes.

Hunting for some good deals? No need to go on safari. Right now you can save 30-60% off all merchandise here at Costume Craze!

Blowout Sale Beats Turkey Hunting

Early one November, a turkey hunting party headed to Meeke, Minnesota. Surprisingly, they couldn't find any turkeys. Jed, their leader, instructed them to go back to the cabin, have breakfast, then try again.

But Tommy Lee said he'd skip breakfast and keep on looking, since he'd come all the way from Texas just for the hunt.

The hunters eating breakfast heard a heck of a lot of gunshot. So they headed off in the general direction of the shooting, where they found Tommy Lee, who said, "Bring a truck, I've got me 5 of them."

"You don't need a truck for 5 birds," said Jed.

"Birds?" Exclaimed Tommy Lee. "I've got me 5 sheep. I didn't come all this way from Texas to go home empty handed!"

We don't know much about turkey hunting for sheep, but we're pretty sure you won't come away empty handed from our Blowout Sale...you'll save 30%-60% on our huge selection of costumes!

But hurry, this sale ends at midnight on November 15th (you can always go hunt for a turkey at the grocery store after that).

Harvest Savings

You've put away the Halloween decorations and now it's time to give the house a distinctly autumn flavor.

The great thing about fall décor is that you can use pieces of nature right from your own yard.

All those fiery-colored leaves building up in heaps can be recycled to decorate place mats and glass votive candle holders for the fall season.

Cut a few twigs full of orange, red and yellow leaves and make a harvest bouquet. Use a real pumpkin as a vase.

Mini pumpkins can be placed on table with twigs, leaves and pinecones for a festive fall centerpiece.

Okay, now that you've saved so much money on fall decorations, you'll have plenty to spend on fun Thanksgiving costumes, which are all on sale now at Costume Craze. Talk about reaping a harvest of savings…you'll glean up to 60% off!

Halloween Stories

With Halloween comes the overwhelming desire to creep ourselves out with tales of the scary and unexplained. Here's a few mysterious, head-scratching facts that may, or may not, be true…but we'll let you figure that out for yourself!

In 1970, a group of people were arrested at the Highgate Cemetary (in England) for intent to harm...a vampire! The vampire is rumored to still be around today.

In 1982, a Chicago woman who was walking down the street burst into flames for no apparent reason!

In the 1990's, more than 30 people were axed, hanged, burned and mobbed to death in the US for practicing witchcraft.

In 1994, electromagnetic interference from a nearby cell phone took control of an electric wheelchair at a scenic vista in Colorado, sending the passenger off the cliff.

Here's a tale that may surprise and amaze you, but we promise this one is completely true...Costume Craze is now offering savings of 30-60% off on our entire selection of costumes!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Safety

Caught up in the excitement of Halloween night, it's easy to forget about safety. The dangers of Fright Night don't stem from witches or goblins, but rather from falls and pedestrian/car crashes. The trick to making Halloween a real treat is to follow guidelines that will keep everyone safe...so they can concentrate on having fun:

Be Visible: Accent darker costumes like Wizard and Witch Costumes with reflective tape, carry a glow stick or reflective bag to make sure motorists can see you.

Prevent Trips: Falls are the leading cause of accidental Halloween injuries! Make sure that everyone's shoes and costumes fit well. Don’t wear costumes or masks that can hinder sight or mobility (that goes for props too). If necessary, cut wider holes in masks or use face makeup. Hem costumes that are too long.

Use the Buddy System: There's safety in numbers, especially in the dark. Have everyone in your group use the buddy system, so that they're not alone as they walk the streets.

Make time your Friend : Use glow in the dark watches so everyone can clearly read their curfew times. Use cell phones to keep in touch. Set times and designated locations for group members to check in.

Use the next few days to sew, tuck and plan your way to a safe and Happy Halloween!

More Halloween Humor

Q. Who won the skeleton beauty pageant?

A. No body!

Q. Why did the ghost go into the bar?

A. For the BOOS!

Q. Why don’t mummies take vacations?

A. They’re afraid to relax and unwind!

Q. What kind of dog does Dracula have?

A. A bloodhound!

These Halloween jokes may be funny, but not having a costume for Halloween is just downright scary.

Fortunately, Costume Craze has next day shipping service so you can join in on all the Fright Night fun in your favorite movie, monster or character costume!

Fun Things to do on Halloween

Wait behind the door until some people come. When they get near the door, jump out, wearing a costume and holding a bag, and yell, "Trick or Treat!" Look at them, scratch your head and act confused.

After you give them candy, hand the trick-or-treaters a bill.

Dress like a butler. Hand out menus to the trick-or-treaters and let them order their candy. Keep asking if anyone wants to see the beverage menu.

Dress like the Easter Bunny. Instead of candy, give away colored eggs. If anyone protests, explain that the eggs are the only thing you had left over from Easter.

Answer the door dressed as a dentist. Angrily give the trick-or-treaters a two-hour lecture on tooth decay.

Whether you're trick-or-treating, or handing out the candy, Halloween's always more fun when you wear a costume!

Costume Craze has a large selection of humorous and scary costumes just waiting for the perfect opportunity to participate in a little safe and fun Halloween mischief!

Back to East High

Are you ready to go back to East High? Sounds like the rest of the world wide High School Musical fan base is.

Witch's Hats

Need an easy Halloween treat for a party, neighborly gift...or, just for fun? It doesn't take a magic wand and cauldron full of eye of newt and lizard tails to whip up these spellbinding witch's hat cookies!

What you DO need:

Keebler Fudge Striped Cookies

Hershey's Kisses (regular milk chocolate)

One tube of orange decorator frosting

Turn cookies upside down so fudge side is facing up. Pipe orange decorator icing around center place and hold unwrapped kiss on top icing circle. Finish with a decorative piping of frosting along the base of the kiss and draw a frosting bow.

You'll be the talk of every coven in town when you serve up these wickedly festive cookies in one of our enchanting witch costumes!

Dead Easy Costumes

The great thing about zombie costumes is... they're easy and pretty much anything goes. With a little makeup and your costume of choice, you're ready to play dead.

Guys, if you have an old suit, for example, you can be a zombie business man or prom king. Rip sleeve and pant bottoms so they look tattered. Use water soluble makeup to paint the area around your eyes and mouth black and the rest of your face and hands a white or grayish color with a few smudges of layered dark red and green makeup here and there.

If the suit is dispensable, smudge it with makeup or fabric paint to give the allusion of dirt and decay.

Gals, you can be a zombie cheerleader or Hollywood starlet. Shop at thrift stores for old prom dresses and such...but don't forget to check your closet first!

When it comes right down to it, all you really need is some old clothes you already have on hand, and a little costume makeup, to look like a respectable zombie.

How's that for a dead easy Costume?

Halloween Hustle

Haven't started planning your Halloween party yet? It's time to hustle...there's only about two weeks left to pull it all together!

Check out these frightfully festive party tips:

Hollow out mini pumpkins and use as votive candle holders or use them as dip holders.

Serve red fruit punch in a cauldron. Add dry ice to make it a decorative brew!

Use red decorating icing gel to create a cool dripping blood effect on glasses. Pipe red gel around rim of wine glass or other clear cup, letting it drip down the sides.

Hand out Halloween stickers or tattoos, vampire teeth, glow sticks or mini flashlights as party favors.

Play pin the tail on the black cat or pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern.

Fill a glass jar with candy corn and have guests try to figure out the quantity (don't forget to count them first).

There's a bunch of helpful tips here to help you start planning that fa-boo-lous Halloween party right away. But if you want a decent host costume, you need to hustle on that too...shop our Halloween costumes now, before all the other party hosts out there snatch them up!
