When it comes to the Academy Awards, they can never take away that nomination. The same can be said for the CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) Best of Beauty Awards. The good news- DERMAdoctor´s Body Guard was (and always will be) a FINALIST for the coveted CEW Best of Beauty Award in the Sun Product category. And DERMA doctor accomplished this feat in just 6 months after the DERMA doctor brand launched. The less than good news, unfortunately DERMA doctor didn´t take home the Lalique statue. But I must say, considering the huge Lauder sweep of the categories, I still can´t believe DERMA doctor was the only small new independent company that claimed a finalist position out of the 23 categories. The event certainly wasn´t a total loss. Emceeing the awards were none other than Kyan Douglas and Carson Kressley from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. DERMA doctor got to meet them and even had my picture taken with them. Something for the DERMAdoctor scrap book! (By the way, they were really nice and Carson is hysterical). Sauntering in were none other than 3 of Donald Trump´s apprentice wannabes - Heidi, Katrina and Ereka. The media kept them far too busy snapping photos to allow any schmoozing. Don´t know if it was the NBC connection to the awards show or Ereka´s Clinique connections (she was formerly in charge of their global promotions), but anyways, they too handed out some of the awards. A word on the CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women organization, www.cew.org). The CEW is a nonprofit trade organization made up of 2500 women executives in the beauty, fragrance and cosmetics industry, along with associated media, retailers and other related industries . Members cast their votes from a field of nominated products and five finalists were chosen within each category. Like they say in Hollywood, it´s simply an honor and a privilege just to have been nominated! So now it´s on to next year and all the fantastic products DERMA doctor needs to get busy creating and launching.
