You’ve read it before. “Love – even the wisest cannot explain; it tickles the heart and muddles the brain.” Well, you are far too intelligent to be muddled by anything abstract like love. But you do know that the brain and the body needed relaxation – a break from the high-pressure work and the demands of social life. This is why you wanted to have a vacation. You wanted to spend many hours at the beach but you also wanted to have this beach private. When you arrived at the resort, you were glad to know that the Riu Palace Las Americas does not share its beach with other hotels and resorts. Yet, the location is not far from the hub of civilization. In fact, it is only about 390 feet from the shopping center, 6.2 miles from downtown Cancun, and 12.5 miles from the airport. And if you intended to simply stay inside the resort, you would only be mingling with guests of the same resort. And you would also be given complimentary sun loungers when spending time on the beach.
The 8-story building of this resort has 372 suites that have been provided with many modern amenities such as the mini-bar, liquor dispenser, satellite TV, radio alarm clock, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, and the telephone with an available Internet data port. The majority of the suites have balconies that present a spectacular view of the ocean. The Senior Suites have a second TV, as well as a separate living room and a dressing room. The Jacuzzi Suites, of course, has a Jacuzzi on the balcony. You loved the balcony. You loved the fresh air. And you loved the peace that surrounds you ... except for that annoying woman in a bathing suit who kept on waving her arms to you.
What the heck does she want? You don’t know her. You haven’t seen her before. And what is she saying? So you shouted back, “I’m sorry I can’t hear you.” That was when she stopped waving and began laughing. Then you heard another female voice from somewhere. “Yes, I’ll meet you at the pool!” You realized that she wasn’t waving at you. You were slightly mortified but you shrugged it off. This is still your vacation and now, you are heading for the pool.
The Riu Palace Las Americas has one of the most exquisitely designed swimming pools. It has an adjoining Jacuzzi that made you feel like an Eastern prince. This pool is also heated during winter and so all guests throughout the year can use this pool. You approved of the combination of technology and luxury. And you appreciated the convenience of the swim-up bar and the poolside bar. And no, you were not searching for her at all.
She and her friend were at the gym. They were signing up for the introductory scuba diving lesson. You, on the other hand, are not a stranger to water sports. With the modern equipment before you, you were tempted to go windsurfing, snorkeling, canoeing, and using the catamaran. But your all-inclusive vacation package deal entitles you to this scuba diving lesson. And so you also signed up. No, you don’t really know how to scuba dive. And she is very pretty.
“Did you hear me?” She asked. When exactly did you hear her? Now or when you were at the suite’s balcony? No, you brain is not muddled yet. “I’m sorry,” you muttered, “what did you say again?” She smiled. “There are six amazing restaurants here. Would you like to join us for lunch?”
